Night+Hiking=Niking

Last night, we met Austin and Kelli at sunset to nike up the Pillbox Trail in Lanikai (see the pictures of Kailua and the Mokulua Islands--where we kayaked when Ariel 'tanned'). The plan was to bring a few beers, watch the full moon rise, and then nike down under the bright light of the moon. Unfortunately, it was overcast; and after drinking our beers we came to realize that the moon was nowhere in sight. We had to nike it down in complete darkness (see pic of Chris and Austin niking). No harm, no foul. Next time we'll check the weather, not just the lunar calendar.

I'm glad you guys didn't get eaten by some non-rabid animal out there in the dark. Did you have a flashlight?

Luckily we did have a flashlight - but only one between the four of us!

The "Pillbox" is the same trail with the WWII bunkers... some people think the bunkers look like pillboxes perched on the mountain ridge. You'll have to show us your favorite hikes when you come visit! :)
