We are Fam-i-ly

Mom, Dad, Mimi and Big Daddy came to visit!

I happen to have the very best parents and grandparents in the entire world. During the week we loaded up on free macadamia nuts at the nut farm, toured the USS Missouri, got lost in a pineapple maze, and ate poi at a luau. Dad, however, disappointed us by not exclaiming that poi had the consistency of snot with none of the flavor, one of his favorite expressions. If there were ever a food to say it about...

On my dad's birthday, we made macadamia nut and banana-choco pancakes and reservations for a sunset mai tai cruise. It began to lightly drizzle as we were boarding the boat and we all joked about the weather. Then, just as the catamaran pulled away from shore, a hard, driving rain thoroughly soaked us for the next forty minutes. Happy Birthday, Dad!

After the rainstorm, it turned into a beautiful evening! We saw several different whales swimming nearby and my parents (aided by the mai tais) turned the deck into a dance floor.

We had previously made reservations to go out to a nice dinner in Waikiki, but since we were all shivering by the time we landed we decided to eat pizza in our pajamas. It was the perfect way to end the day - talking and laughing around the little table in the cozy vacation rental.

...but now that my family is gone who will make coffee in the morning, take Paddy out on walks, drive me around the island, concoct my happy hour cocktails, sneak money in my pockets, and take us out to nice restaurants?!?!
